Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over tardy pace of railway and National Highway (NH) projects in the state, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has directed the officials concerned to speed up projects through constant monitoring.
Chairing the meeting of the Project Monitoring Group of the Prime Ministers’ Office here recently, Padhi issued the instructions to officials as many big projects are lagging behind deadlines, sources said here Saturday.
The implementation of many large projects in the state has seen significant progress during the last few months due to resolution of bottlenecks in implementation, the source said.
The major projects reviewed at the meeting are Khurda-Bolangir new rail line, Sambalpur-Bamur railway line doubling, Haridaspur-Paradip new railway line, Talcher-Bimlagarh new rail line, Angul-Sukinda new railway line, Chandikhol-Duburi-Talcher section of NH, Binjabahal-Teleibani section of NH-6, Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6, Angul-Sambalpur toll road project, Panikoili-Rimuli NH, Rengali irrigation project and others.
The field level execution of railway projects like the doubling of Kottvalasa-Koraput rail link (Rs 2,500 crore), third and fourth rail line between Budhapark-Salegaon (Rs 1,173 crore) and Vizianagaram-Sambalpur 3rd line (Rs 2,336 crore) was also reviewed at the meeting.
Establishment of new medical colleges attached to existing district or referral hospitals in phase-II was reviewed. Health Secretary PK Meherda said detailed project reports have already been prepared and submitted to the government for approval.
e-PMS, an online project monitoring system, has been put in place by the Centre to monitor projects.
