Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the State Assembly will start from September 4 and will continue till September 20. As per a notification issued by the parliamentary affairs department, the monsoon session will have a total of 11 business days.
The supplementary budget, which was usually passed during winter session, will be tabled in the coming session this year. Finance minister Shashi Bhusan Behera is likely to present the supplementary budget September 4, official sources said here Wednesday.
The supplementary budget will be tabled in this session to make provision for various new schemes announced recently by the government and some important bills as election in nearing, the source said. While three days (September 10 to 12) have been earmarked for discussion of the supplementary budget, the appropriation bill would be passed September 17.
The opposition Congress and the BJP will try to corner the BJD government over several issues including Puri Ratna Bhandar missing key row, corruption charges on account of newly constructed Gurupriya bridge in Malkangiri and farmers’ plight, among others.
