Bhubaneswar: A beauty pageant contest ‘Maatritava-2018’, to celebrate the mother-daughter relationship, was held at a city hotel here in Bhubaneswar Saturday. The event was graced by actresses Bipasha Basu, Divya Seth and Sushma Seth and transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.
Tripathi in her reaction said, “This out-of-the-box type programme is a milestone in every term. In an age where the mothers are being disowned by their children and relegated to old age homes, Maatritava celebrates motherhood.”
The event started with a fashion show that showcased fifteen pairs of mother and daughter adorned with the designs by eminent designer Sweta Parekh, the organiser of the event.
Sweta Parekh stressed on the values of relationship to be celebrated in every sphere of life and to be cherished forever.
The jury consisted of Gauri Sawant, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, actresses Divya Seth and Sushma Seth.
Korei (Jajpur) MP Akash Das Nayak, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani and Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra were also present at the event.
