Cuttack: Senior IAS officer Vinod Kumar, who was sentenced to three years of imprisonment on charges of corruption, was granted bail by the Orissa High Court Monday.
The High Court also directed the lower court to determine the conditions of the bail.
Purna Chandra Dash, former executive director (technical) of Odisha Rural Housing and Development Corporation (ORHDC), who has been convicted in the ORHDC scam case, was also granted bail by the High Court.
Vinod Kumar and Purna Chandra Dash had August 10 surrendered before the Special Vigilance Court here. The court had then awarded the IAS officer and Dash three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).
A Vigilance court in July had convicted Kumar on charges of corruption and cheating during his tenure as managing director of ORHDC. The case dates back to 2001 when ORHDC had sanctioned loans to real estate firms and NGOs without conducting verification for housing reconstruction after the super cyclone. The scam ran into over `100 crores.
