Bhadrak: With rain lashing coastal pockets, people living along rivers Baitarani and Salandi under Chandbali block in Bhadrak district are panicked about the possibility of tides gushing through rivers and sweeping villages and farmlands away.
Reports said a flood-like situation has emerged in the area. Farmers are worried about floods in villages like Shitalpur, Muan, Santara, Batola, Singipur, Aradi, Nandapur, Palatpur, Bhuinpur, Koilakha, Bankamuhan, Taladumuka and Uparadumuka.
Now, roads in Shitalpur and Palatpur are submerged under water and villages are cut off from the rest of the world.
The tidal waters failed to drain out from farmlands while the low-pressure-induced rain has added to the problems. Villagers have to suffer untold miseries.
Vehicular movement on Bhuinpur-Aradi road has come to a halt as flood water runs three feet above the road.
Farmers alleged that farmlands are under water for four days and crops will be damaged if water fails to drain out.
They alleged that they have been demanding embankments along the river banks, but the government had ignored the demand.
