Bhubaneswar, Dec 8:Pronouncing its reserved verdict, Khurda sessions court Monday turned down the bail application of Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy. Tripathy was arrested for his alleged involvement in Artha Tatwa fraud. Tripathy’s counsel pleaded for bail citing health reasons.
However, the CBI counsel turned it down. CBI counsel informed the court that Tripathy had undergone several medical tests earlier which showed he was healthy. Tripathy has been sent to a 14-day judicial remand following the rejection of his bail plea. The CBI had arrested Tripathy October 31.
The court, which completed hearing on Tripathy’s bail plea December 2, had kept its verdict reserved and had fixed Monday for pronouncing its order. While his counsel had pleaded for his bail on health grounds, the CBI counsel had argued against allowing him to go on bail.
