Bhubaneswar: The Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday approved the supplementary budget of `12,768 crore for 2018-19 fiscal.
Finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera will present the supplementary budget on the first day of the monsoon session of the state Assembly beginning September 4. The state had presented a supplementary budget of `9828.57 crore in 2017-18 in addition to the annual budget of `1,06,910.87 crore.
Behera said the Council of Ministers, taking note of the pending projects, new schemes announced recently and provision for centrally sponsored schemes, has approved additional financial provision in the supplementary budget.
“The state government has announced its own new welfare schemes on health, social security and food security for the socio-economic development of the poor,” he pointed out.
Besides, emphasis has been given for allocation of arrears to the state government employees, who are receiving salaries and allowances as per the recommendations of seventh Pay Commission from October 1, 2017, sources said.
