Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has predicted heavy rain from August 25 in several parts of the state which is expected to continue for the next few days breaking a three-day lull.
It has predicted short spells of rain and thunderstorms Friday in different parts of the state.
The department Thursday said that the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ganganagar, Kaithal, Meerut, Hardoi, Patna, Goalpara and thence eastwards to east Assam which has helped the state avert heavy rain till Friday.
Post Friday, the department said there are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of northern Odisha August 25 while heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Malkangiri August 26.
The department also said the state capital is likely to remain partly cloudy Friday and can witness one or two spells of rain while the maximum and minimum temperatures is likely to remain at 33 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.
