Cuttack: The alumni association of Jobra Municipal High School has donated Rs 10.10 lakh for the Mo School Abhiyan initiative of the state government.
As per the norms of the scheme, the state government would provide twice the donated amount to the school for improvement in its infrastructure. “The fund will be spent for construction of a conference room and a library at Jobra Municipal High School,” said a source.
The alumni association donated the money through cheque at a special event here Saturday.
Participating in the event, Finance minister Sashibhusan Behera urged the alumni associations of various schools to participate in the Mo School Abhiyan and help in enhancing infrastructure at their alma maters.
Collector Aravind Agrawal, who was present at the event, opined that people can strengthen the bond that they have with their schools by participating in the Mo School Abhiyan.
Jobra Municipal High School alumni association president Sushant Mohanty and secretary Shuvendu Mohanty, district education officer Niranjan Behera, former headmistress Gayatri Pattnaik and former headmaster Sricharan Behera among others were also present at the event.
Notably, the state government had launched the programme to rope in all the stakeholders, including the alumni, to help in improving the infrastructural facilities and ensure quality education at schools.
