Jajpur: An 80-year-old man was beaten to death by his son over land dispute at Kamarsahi village under Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district Monday.
The deceased was identified as Radheshyam Behera.
According to sources, Behera and his younger son had been quarrelling with each other over land dispute for a long time. Even both were restricted from using the land as prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC was clamped on the patch of land belonging to the family.
Sunday night, both had a heated argument over the issue and the situation turned ugly Monday morning when the father-son duo started attacking each other with wooden planks. Following the scuffle, both sustained critical injuries and were admitted to Mangalpur Community Health Centre (CHC). Behera succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, police arrested the accused and interrogation in this connection is underway.
