Bhubaneswar: Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar has arrested and forwarded Niranjan Satpathy of Langaleswar under Khalikote Police Station in Ganjam district to court Monday for fraudulent availing of loan to the tune of Rs.2.26 crores by 85 loanees under “Sarala Loan” scheme from Allahabad Bank.
A case was registered after a complaint was filed by Pranab Kumar Ray, Senior Manager, Allahabad Bank, Nayasarak Branch, Cuttack in the matter. The loan was sanctioned during between December 2009 to March 2010 on the basis of forged documents in collusion with Rabindra Kumar Jena, Establishment Officer, Chief Engineer, Drainage, Gandarpur, Cuttack.
Investigation revealed that accused Niranjan Satpathy had availed Rs 3 lakhs by impersonating himself as Junior Engineer in the office of Chief Engineer, Drainage, Gandarpur, Cuttack.
Earlier, other 24 accused persons were arrested and forwarded to Court. Besides, 26 are now on bail as per the orders of Orissa High Court.
JMFC, Cuttack has convicted accused Rabindra Kumar Jena after completion of trial against him. Trial in respect of other accused persons is subjudice.
The investigation is in progress.
