BHUBANESWAR: The Jharapada Durga Puja Samiti has stated that the budget for this year’s puja celebrations will be Rs 40 lakh.
Jharapada Durga Puja Samiti Vice President Pratap Chandra Mishra revealed this at a press meet at the Samiti Conference Hall Wednesday.
Their 85-feet high pandal will be based on the Albert Museum in Rajasthan, and will be made by artistes from Kolkata.
The height of the idol will be 12 feet. The singhasan of the idol will be 20 feet high, and it will be made by the artistes from Cuttack.
The pandal will have centralised AC, CCTV cameras and fire safety measures. Around 300 volunteers will be deployed to maintain order.
Traffic will be managed with the help of Commissionerate Police. Prasad will be given to all devotees from Saptami to Dashami.
Cultural programmes will start from Sasthi-Bajhan Sandhya. It will continue on Saptami and Asthami. On Navami, playback singers Niraj Bakshi and Sonali Mishra will perform with their group.
A 40 feet high statue of Ravana will be burnt along with a fireworks programme at the Jharapada High School Ground. Immersion will be carried out at the Kuakhai River October 29.
Jharapada Durga Puja Samitee President Sikhar Chandra Jena, General Secretary Dharani Dhar Jena, Convener Sridhar Jena and Committee Members Ugrasen Mangraj, Ranjeet Kumar Ray, Musaraf Khan were also present at the press meet.
