Bantala/Angul: The Forest Department is likely to tranqulise Royal Bengal tigress Sundari Monday after it killed a villager from Tainsi village Sunday.
The department is likely to shift Sundari back to the enclosure Monday.
A team of experts and doctors from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Nandankanan Zoological Park and gun assistants reached here Sunday night.
After holding discussions with the researchers of Wildlife Institute of India (WII), the team has been assigned with the task of tranquilising and capturing the big cat.
The tigress killed Trinath Sahoo when he had gone to a nullah for fishing in the wee hours of Sunday.
“Angul divisional forest officer (DFO) V Kartik assured us that we need not fear as a team of 20 dedicated staff was keeping a 24X7 watch on the tigress’s movement. The tigress would immediately be tranquilised if any sign of attacking people was noticed. But all the tall claims have fallen flat,” one of the villagers said.
