Bhubaneswar: Skipper Biplab Samantray (103 n o, 210b, 14×4, 2×6) scored a patient unbeaten century to help hosts Odisha register a draw against Haryana in an Elite Group C Ranji encounter at the KIIT Ground here Sunday. The visitors got crucial three points on the basis of their first innings lead while the hosts had to be satisfied with a single point.
In reply to Haryana’s first innings total of 442, Odisha resumed from their overnight second innings score of 50/1 and soon find themselves in trouble losing four quick wickets on 99. But Biplab scored an unbeaten fighting century to avert further danger. He found an able partner in Subhranshu Senapati (45, 85b, 8×4) and both stitched together a partnership of 122 runs to take Odisha into a safer Zone. After the departure of Subhranshu, Odisha faced a batting debacle again, but experienced Biplab managed to play out the final session along with the tail.
Haryana skipper Mohit Sharma shook hands with Biplab after the completion of his century leading the match to a draw. Odisha finally were 267/7 at the end of the game.
