Bhubaneswar: The stage is set for the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, the biennial event to attract investors to the state. The event to be inaugurated November 11 evening will conclude November 15.
“We had visited six countries and invited all heads of business communities. Many of them are also attending the conclave. Perhaps it is going to be the biggest ever business event in the country,” Industries Minister Anant Das told reporters.
About 150 experts from India, the US and Europe will deliberate on 15 diverse subjects, Das said and hoped the conclave would provide a unique opportunity for businesses to network and forge partnerships.
Top industrialists, including chief of Reliance Industries Limited Mukesh Ambani, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Tata Sons chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran and Vedanta Group chairman Anil Agarwal have consented to be part of the conclave, said Industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra.
Apart from domestic industries, companies from Japan, France, Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia and UAE are expected to participate in the investors’ meet, he said, adding, “Japan is the partner country for the Make in Odisha Conclave, which itself is an achievement.” Chairmen of SBI and Bandhan Bank will grace the occasion, he added.
Elaborating on the partnership with Japan, the secretary said, “It is just a beginning. We have collaborated with Japan for a long-term bonding. A dedicated session for Japanese companies has been scheduled for November 12 which will provide various investment opportunities in Odisha’s manufacturing sector.”
“People living outside Odisha do not have an exact idea of the state’s potential. There is a lot of information gap, misconception and misunderstanding about the state. Therefore, we will showcase the state’s economy at the event,” Chopra indicated.
The state hopes to get some investment in defence manufacturing sector as it has recently come up with a policy to attract investors in this regard. “The Odisha policy is one of best best in defence manufacturing sectors in the country,” claimed Chopra.
The main attraction of the event is Odisha theme pavilion named “Deomali” with mesmerizing projections on the geodesic dome. This dome built in India will project the focus areas and tourist destinations in the state,” said Sanjay Singh, CMD of Odisha industrial infrastructure development corporation (Idco).
