Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association Friday decided to continue its cease-work stir till November 12 while the Orissa High Court deferred hearing on a writ petition on the police-lawyer stand-off to November 12 as the Crime Branch failed to come up with the final report.
The High Court Bar Association in its general body meeting held soon after the hearing decided to continue its agitation till Monday when it meets again.
Sources said DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma had sent a letter to the Bar Association president Thursday calling for a discussion. In response, the Bar Association said that it was ready provided the venue is neutral.
Earlier, a division bench of Chief Justice KS Jhaveri and Justice KR Mohapatra deferred the hearing after Crime Branch (CB) Inspector General (IG) Arun Bothra submitted only a status report instead of the final probe report.
Claiming that the agency needs to conduct a polygraph test on the persons involved in the case, Bothra sought six weeks to submit the final probe report.
Besides, expressing displeasure over revocation of suspension order on the three police officials, the bench sought to know under what circumstances it was done when the case is sub judice. The bench directed the IG to submit a report while posting the hearing for Monday.
