Bhubaneswar: The Centre has released the second tranche of Rs 389.25 crore towards Central share in State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for relief and restoration work in the state following Cyclone Titli and the subsequent floods.
Department of Expenditure in the Ministry of Finance has released the fund following recommendation of Ministry of Home Affairs, sources said here Sunday. However, the Centre is yet to release any fund as demanded by the state government after making assessment of the damage caused due to cyclone and floods.
Out of Rs 865 crore set for SDRF for 2018-19, the Centre is providing 90 per cent while state contributes 10 per cent to it. Earlier this year, the Centre sanctioned Rs 389.25 crore as first installment, which was spent in relief and restoration work, an official in the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi October 31 had written to Union Secretary Home Affairs Rajiv Gauba to take necessary steps for releasing second installment of SDRF in advance. The state had also raised the demand during its meeting with a Central team which visited the state to access the damage due to Titli.
