Tihidi: Angry over frequent power cuts for the last five days, people in Gobindapur panchayat under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district locked the office of power distribution company Nesco here Friday.
The villagers of Paitipur have been in darkness due to power shutdown for the last five days. They gheraoed the Nesco office at Nandapur and later locked it up. The villagers alleged that a 100-KV transformer had been installed in the village five years ago, but it has not been made operational.
Superintending engineer of Nesco Suresh Chandra Sahu had telephonic talks with the agitating people. He assured them that the 100-KV transformer will be made functional soon.
