BHUBANESWAR: The 15th edition of fashion and lifestyle exhibition Sutraa got off to a great start at a city hotel here Thursday.
This exhibition attracted women of all age groups, who had a field day buying their favourite products.
Orissa POST interacted with few of the buyers and sellers to know more about the expo.
Kamini Peria, a tourist from Andhra Pradesh, said, “I have come to the city to watch men’s Hockey WC. However, I came to this expo after seeing an advertorial. I have bought two pairs of palazzos and some Kundan earrings.”
Maumoni Bagchi, another tourist, said, “Gorgeous attires to suit special events in the ongoing wedding season have been showcased at the event. Intricately crafted patterns of gota patti, gold thread embroidery and sequins among other embellishments have been incorporated into salwar suits that are up for sale here.”
A bride-to-be Snigdha Bisoi said, “One can never get enough of a good designer saree. Zardosi, zari and stone work have been designed on fabrics like georgette, chiffon, crepe, silk and cotton varieties which have made the saris much sought after at the expo.”
More than 46 designers from Kolkata, Raipur, Bihar, Indore and New Delhi showcased their latest and exquisite collections at the event. The visitors were made to choose from a varied range of ethnic and fusion wear, sarees, lehnga, gowns, suit pieces, jewellery, skin care, sandals, handbags and gift boxes among others.
“I wish to be trendy in all the wedding ceremonies that I have been invited to. Therefore, I bought a sari with brasso work as well as a little bling with sequin designs,” said Aleena Rout. Apart from textiles and apparels, a variety of gifts, style accessories and leather products were also displayed at the expo.
Fashion accessories including ear, finger rings, neck pieces and hair accessories were sold aplenty on the first day of the expo. The exhibition also boasts a jewellery section that showcased polki, pearls, kundan and minakari along with other Rajasthani items. Chic hand watches, handbags and wallets were also available.
