Malkangiri: In the fifth day of the observance of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week, ultras have called upon youths to boycott elections and join them. The Maoists have put up posters at Malkangiri’s Swabhiman areas Thursday.
These posters were found at Panasput, Jagamba, Antrapalli and other places seeking support from tribal youths to keep on fighting for their rights.
Through the posters, the Red rebels have asked the local youths to extend their support and join the group for the fundamental rights of tribals on water, land and jungle.
They also urged the youths to act against police atrocities and destroy the anti-Naxal people’s force.
This apart, the ultras have asked the youths to join the revolutionary outfit to usher in new democracy in society.
During the PLGA week, the Reds have held various meetings and asked all sections of society to boycott the election in what they call bogus democracy. They also asked the villagers to seek revenge from the police and government in fake encounter cases and killing of innocent people.
On the other hand, panchayat offices in remote areas have been shut down for a week fearing violence while government-run buses kept off roads during the PLGA week.
Security in the town and its outskirts has been tightened by the district police and BSF. The police and BSF have kept close eyes on the activities of the Reds, said SP Jagmohan Meena.
