Bhubaneswar: In keeping with the continuous fall in fuel prices, the state government Wednesday slashed bus fare across categories by two to four paise per kilometre.
As per the automatic fare revision mechanism, the State Transport Authority (STA) has reduced the fares for the second time in the last 15 days. The previous downward fare revision was notified November 28.
As per the order of the transport department, bus fare for the ordinary and express buses was reduced by two paise per km while the charges for the deluxe and air-conditioned deluxe buses were slashed by four paise per km.
Now, ordinary buses will charge 68 paise per km as against 70 paise per km and the express buses will charge 71 paise per km against 73 paise per km.
Similarly, the bus fare of deluxe category has been reduced to 97 paise from Rs 1.01 per km. The fare for AC deluxe buses will now be Rs 1.19 from Rs 1.23 per km, said the government order.
