Berhampur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Surat to inaugurate Odisha Mahotsav Monday, while his Gujarat counterpart will come to the state to attend a programme.
According to Ganjam district BJP president Kanhu Charan Pati, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has invited 13 prominent BJP workers to Bhubaneswar.
According to Pati, lakhs of people from Ganjam district alone are earning their livelihood in Surat by working in various sectors like power looms and diamond cutting.
Rupani will have a discussion on what more can be done for the betterment of Odia people living in Gujarat.
Notably, Patnaik has written letters to Central ministers urging them to introduce two daily trains between Berhampur and Surat and a direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Surat.
Odias living in Surat have a common problem that they have lost their hard earned money in chit fund scam.
Some BJP workers who have gone to Surat said that the police had picked up some duped investors while they were staging a demonstration in Surat Sunday.
Sources said these duped investors are to draw CM Patnaik’s attention to their problems, urging his intervention for the early release of their money.
