Bhubaneswar: After the month-long excitement of the Odisha Hockey World Cup and the recently-concluded Bhubaneswar City Festival (.Fest), the Capital city is now ready for Christmas celebrations.
On this festive occasion, Patha Utsav, the weekly street festival in Bhubaneswar added to the enthusiasm and added to Christmas cheer Sunday morning.
With Christmas round the corner, the central theme was on the great celebration. Drawing, paintings, music and dance engulfed the air in the street festival. Hundreds of people reached the venue to witness the celebration cheer.
BSF Band, young cine artists from Ollywood including Swaraj and Babushan starrer Local Toka Love Choka fame Sanmeera added to the joy of the celebration. Moreover, the beautiful decorations on both sides of the road from Master Canteent o Ram Mandir on Janpath road with Santa and Christmas trees were major attractions during the festival.
The sheer pleasure of walking on Janpath, one of the busiest roads in the city is overwhelming.
It can be mentioned here that seeing the huge response to three special Patha Utsav during 16-day-long .FEST (Bhubaneswar City Festival) the decision was taken to revive the weekly street fest of Bhubaneswar, on every Sunday morning.
“As the event is just a two days before the Christmas, the central theme will be on the great celebration,’’ Nodal officer for Patha Utsav and Member Enforcement Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Bhabani Shankar Chayani said.
The event also focused on promoting non-motorised transport, healthy lifestyle, sports, cycling, skating, yoga and Zumba dancing.
“I’m really enjoying my time here with my friends. Today’s theme is Christmas and we are having a good time,” a local said.
“Usually, we don’t wake up so early in the morning due to the cold. However, the feel of visiting Patha Utsav is something else. So, I along with my friends had decided well in advance to come to the street festival and enjoy ourselves,” a girl said.
Locals complimented the efforts of the BMC and the BDA for arranging such beautiful street festivals and changing the urban lifestyle in Bhubaneswar.
