Balasore: A minor girl belonging to a minority community was allegedly shot dead by her ‘boyfriend’ at his house when the girl refused to marry him at Golapol area under Sahadevkhunta Model police limits in Balasore district Saturday night, a report said.
Police detained two persons in this connection.
The deceased was a class-XI student. A complaint was lodged at the police station by the family members. Acting on the compliant, the police have initiated an investigation and meanwhile, detained two including the accused (deceased’slover) Sheikh Mamun (18).
Sheikh Maun used to love the girl, a resident of Masjid Gali at Arad Bazar. Both had got closer after regular telephonic conversation.
Saturday night, Mamun had taken the girl inside his house and sought her intimacy and allegedly forced her to marry him.
As the girl did not agree, the accused shot her dead at 10 pm.
When the father of the accused came to know of the incident, both the father and son carried the body to a road side at night. Some locals saw them and intimated the police.
Police swung into action and seized the body.
Sub-inspector Narendranath Sutar said that the accused has shot the girl dead when the later refused to marry the former.
However, police are yet to recover the weapon used in the crime.
