Bantala: CCTV footage released by the forest department shows tigress Sundari is in good health.
The big cat kept in an enclosure in Raiguda was found climbing 20-ft tall tree and resting on its branches.
The CCTV grab has brought all speculations to rest about the ill health of the tigress. Sundari was seen bathing, hunting, walking and running inside the enclosure. The disclosure assumes significance as a section of media reported that the tigress was in ill health.
The RBT was brought from Bandhavgrah National Park after a male tiger Mahavir was brought from Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh to help increase the tiger population in Satkosia.
The two animals were subsequently released in the wild. However, violence erupted after the tigress allegedly killed two people and attacked several others.
The residents went on a rampage and burnt down the forest department’s properties demanding the shifting of the tigress from the forest. Forest officials after many efforts managed to tranquilise the tigress in Majhipada near Mahanadi gorge and kept it in an enclosure in Raiguda.
Meanwhile, the male tiger Mahavir died after falling into a trap laid by poachers to kill wild boars.
