New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Thursday held the second preparatory meeting ahead of Biju Krushak Janata Dal’s protest at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi January 8.
Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena, BJD MPs Prasanna Acharya, Tathagata Satpathy, Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Prashant Nanda, Dr Prabhas Singh and others attended the meeting at Odisha Bhawan here.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, BKJD president Prasanna Acharya said, “It was our second preparatory meeting. We have discussed about arrangement for people coming from other states and all other issues related to the proposed protest. BJD is expecting over 5,000 people to take part in the protest.”
Elaborating on the issue, Acharya said, “We have decided to stage a protest in Talkatora Stadium in Delhi on behalf of the farmers from Odisha. Since the last two years, we have been demanding that the minimum support price of paddy be raised to Rs 2,930. We have also sought time from the President and if he gives us an appointment, we will meet him and submit a memorandum to him in this regard,” said Acharya.
He further said that Chief Minister is likely to be in New Delhi to address the farmers’ gathering.
