Nayagarh: At least 30 bus passengers had a close shave with minor injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed a tree along road near Sidhamula under Gania police limits in Nayagarh district Tuesday.
Passers-by rescued the injured and rushed them to Gania and Narsinghpur community health centres respectively. On receipt of information, Gania police reached the spot and helped rescue operations.
No casualty was reported in the mishap, police said. Meanwhile, one of the pilgrims was rendered critical with severe injuries on his head and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.
Most of the passengers were pilgrims from Chhattisgarh and were on their way to visit a temple in Cuttack, said the reports.
Although the exact reason of the mishap was being ascertained, locals said the driver lost control over the wheels and rammed it against a tree due to sleep. Meanwhile, police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident.
