Keonjhar: Even as several months have passed since Bhuyan tribals worked in a cashew plantation drive at Champajhar under Bansapala block in Keonjhar, they have been still waiting for their wages. The families of the poor tribals are living miserably in the absence of their wages.
“Forest officials had assured us to send the wages to our accounts, but months have gone and no wages were available. It is too difficult to lead families,” they rued.
Reports said, nearly 30 Bhuyan tribals were engaged to dig pits for cashew plants on the promise of Rs 200 as wage per day.
The daily wagers– Sukuru Giri, Makuru Kamal, Chamuru Munda, Dutua Giri and Laxmidhar Giri– said they have been frequenting the forest office, but only to get hollow promises. They are not sure if at all they would get their payment.
