Chandbali: A patient and an ambulance staff were killed after the 108 ambulance carrying the patient to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital met with an accident at Ugratara square in Bhadrak district late Thursday night.
The patient was identified as Upendra Sahoo of Kandagaradi village. The health staff attached to the ambulance was Pramod Parida. One attendant of the patient sustained injuries in the mishap and is undergoing treatment at DHH.
Sources said, the deceased patient had been undergoing treatment at Chandbali community health center (CHC). Thursday night he was being shifted to Bhadrak DHH. Hardly the 108 ambulance had travelled 5 km from Chandbali CHC when the ambulance hit a road side tree. The driver is said to have lost control on the vehicle.
On being informed, fire personnel reached on the spot, recovered bodies from the mangled ambulance and sent the injured one to hospital.
