Bhubaneswar: The Computer-Based Test (CBT) of the all India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main-2019, conducted for the first time by the National Testing Agency (NTA), was held across the country Wednesday.
Paper-I of the test for admissions to Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) started Wednesday and will conclude January 12.
The Paper-II of JEE Main comprising (B.Arch/ B.Planning), Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test-Part II in the CBT mode and Drawing Test (Part-III) using pen and paper was held Tuesday at 273 centres across the country. About 9.5 lakh students appeared for the test. In Odisha, about 39,000 students appeared for the test at nine centres.
The JEE (Main)-2019 will be conducted twice for admissions in the next academic session. This will give one more opportunity to students to improve their scores if they had failed to give their best in the first attempt without wasting an academic year.
In the first attempt the students will get a first-hand experience of taking the examination and to find out their mistakes which they can avoid while attempting the second time. This will reduce the chances of losing a year.
If anyone had missed the first examination due to reasons beyond their control, then he/she won’t have to wait for a year. The student’s best of the two NTA scores will be considered for preparation of the rank list.
The first JEE (Main) – 2019 will be held in January 2019 and the second attempt will be held in April 2019.
The test will be held on different shifts/dates during both sessions. The NTA released the application form for JEE (Main)-2019 for the first attempt in September 2018, and for the second attempt it will be released in February 2019.
The result of the first JEE (Main)-2019 will be declared by January 31, 2019 and that of the second attempt by April 30, 2019.
