Angul: Forest officials recovered carcass of a leopard, Wednesday morning. The carcass was found floating in a waterbody near Mankadchua village under Pallahara Block near Rengali Reservoir in the district.
The matter came to the fore after the locals spotted the carcass and informed the forest department.
According to reports, the big cat was bleeding from its mouth. However, the cause behind the tiger’s death is yet to be ascertained.
While rumours did round that the animal might have drowned in the reservoir, others suspected it to have been poached and later dumped in the waterbody.
On receipt of information, forest officials reached the spot and launched a probe. Probe is on and exact reason of its death will be known after the arrival of post-mortem report, officials said.
