Cuttack: The Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) was cancelled after alleged leak of question papers Wednesday, said the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) president Jahan Ara Begum.
While the OTET examination was in progress Wednesday, video clippings of the question paper went viral on social media.
“After ascertaining that the questions under circulation on the social media matched those of the original questions issued to examinees in the day, we were left with no option but to cancel the examinations,” said the BSE president.
The OTET examinations will be conducted afresh and dates of the examinations will be announced after the completion of HSC examinations March 8, the BSE sources said.
More than 1.11 lakh aspiring teachers were taking OTET in over 250 centres across the state. An internal investigation has been ordered into the alleged question paper leak, said the BSE president and the Board has handed over the case to the Crime Branch of state police.
The first sitting of the examination had begun Wednesday and soon the questions were found doing the rounds on social media.
