New Delhi: BJP supremo Amit Shah has contracted swine flu and is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, here, sources stated here, Thursday. Shah who is to conduct a rally in West Bengal, January 20, may not be able to do so.
Shah complained of chest pain and congestion, Wednesday night and was admitted to the hospital late Wednesday evening. Currently his condition is being monitored by a team of doctors in AIIMS.
The BJP leader’s condition first surfaced when Home Minister Rajnath Singh wished him a speedy recovery on the social media. Later on a statement released on behalf of Shah said, “I have been diagnosed with swine flu, treatment is underway. With God’s grace and your love and wishes, I hope to recover soon.”
The BJP had planned to launch its election campaign in West Bengal with a series of rallies. Shah is expected to flag off the campaign in Malda, a day after Mamata Banerjee conducts her mega rally January 19 in Kolkata. It remains to be seen now whether Shah will be fit and running to attend the BJP show in Malda.
