Jeypore: A newborn baby girl was found half-buried near a bridge at Kabidi village under Borigumma police limits in Koraput district Monday morning.
A village youth rescued her before mongrels, wild animals or insects could attack her. The youth who went out to attend nature’s call heard the baby crying and rescued her.
An old woman of the village, who expressed her wish to keep the baby, admitted the newborn at Rabanguda government hospital. Doctors said the baby is out of danger.
The villagers said an unwed mother might have dumped the baby, fearing social stigma. Notably, a baby girl was rescued from the same place in 2017.
