Hatadihi: After the first installment of money under the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) was reportedly credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, banks and panchayat offices have started seeing huge rush of people in Hatadihi block of Keonjhar district.
The lists of selected people were pasted on the walls of the panchayat offices.
People were found standing for hours in serpentine queues before banks to know if they have received the money or not.
People have been updating their passbooks at the Bank of India branch here. The bank has specially engaged staff to look after the updating of passbooks, but the machine often blinks, causing delay in the process.
People complained of difficulty in availing drinking water. They also face trouble after 4 pm when the bank transaction is stopped.
Branch manager Abhijit Sarkar cited want of staff in the branch. He said the zonal office has been asked to repair the passbook updating machine.
Locals demanded two cash counters and drinking water facility at the bank.
