Angul: A labouer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a farmland at Kushakila village under Jarapara police limits in Angul district Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Budhu Nayak (43) of the same village.
The matter came to the fore Wednesday morning after some locals, who had gone to the farmland for work, spotted Nayak’s body and informed the same to his family.
On intimation, police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem. A case was registered and a probe was launched. On the other hand, Nayak’s family members lodged a complaint at Jarapara police station alleging murder.
According to sources, Nayak was engaged as a worker in a brick-kiln near the village. As usual, after food, he left his house for work. Family members grew apprehensive after he did not return home. They searched for him, but to no avail.
Later, his body was found from the farmland Thursday morning with injury marks on his neck. Family members alleged it was a pre-planned murder. Villagers said, Nayak’s wife had abandoned him and had married another man of the locality four years back. They suspected a connection in the alleged murder and demanded a probe.
The exact cause behind his death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report arrives, police said.
