Nagpur: Defendng champions Vidarbha retained the Ranji Trophy title, beating Saurashtra by 78 runs in the summit clash which ended here Thursday.
Set a target of 206, Saurashtra folded for 127 in 58.4 overs in their second innings. Left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate (6/59 in the second innings) was the star performer for the winners. Sarwate took five wickets in the first innings to have match figures of 11/157.
Star batsman Cheteshwar Pujara failed to get going in both the innings for Saurashtra and it was one of the main reasons for the failure of his side. He was dismissed in both the innings by Sarwate
Brief Scores: Vidarbha 312 and 200 beat Saurashtra 307 and 127 all out (Vishvaraj Jadeja 52, Aditya Sarwate 6/59) by 78 runs.
