Khurda: As many as 1,893 slum dwellers of Khurda and Jatni town were provided with land deeds under the Jaga Mission of the state government at a special function here Sunday.
Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra presided over the event while Khurda MLA Rajendra Sahoo was the chief guest. Zilla Parishad chairman Prafulla Dalei graced the occasion as guest of honour. The municipal executive officers of Khurda and Jatni were also present at the event.
“Altogether 804 slum dwellers of Khurda and 1,089 of Jatni were provided with land deeds at the event. Our officials had surveyed 24 slums at Khurda and 13 slums at Jatni to identify beneficiaries for the Jaga Mission,” Mishra said.
According to the collector, the administration would provide land deeds to all slum dwellers of the two towns in different phases. “No eligible person would be excluded from the scheme. Some slum dwellers could not be provided with land deeds Sunday due to delay in land mutation,” he claimed.
According to Mishra, the administration has initiated process to relocate slums located on railway land at Jatni. “We would provide them land at other places. The administration is providing 323 square feet land to each slum dweller under the Jaga Mission. The slum dwellers can purchase more land by depositing money as per the market price of the land,” said the collector.
