Balasore: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday launched a host of projects in Balasore district worth Rs 5858.38 crore and inaugurated 45 other projects worth Rs 387.01 crore.
Significantly, Patnaik laid the foundation stone for Subarnarekha Port which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 5,000 crore in collaboration with TATA Steel. The post will have 12 berths with a cargo-handling capacity of 25-55 million metric tonne (MMT).
The port will also generate employment opportunities for 12,000 youths, official sources said.
During his day-long visit to the coastal district, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation for 33 developmental projects costing over Rs 151 crore at Talasari, Chandaneswar under Bhogarai assembly segment in the district. He also inaugurated the Talsari Beach Festival and addressed the gathering.
