Bhubaneswar: Top seed Ansu Kumar Bhuyan maintained his ranking by winning both the men’s singles and doubles in the AITA-OTA Men’s 50K tennis tournament which concluded at the Gurukul Tennis Academy courts in Mendhasal, Friday.
In the men’s singles final, Ansu defeated second seed Chinmay Pradhan 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets. Even though the first set was a tight affair, Ansu comfortably won the second set to close out the match. Ansu’s groundstrokes were a treat to watch on the day.
In men’s doubles, Ansu teamed up with Sajid ur Rahman of Uttar Pradesh and beat Fayyaz Quadri and Taha Kapadia 6-3, 6-4 in a one-sided affair.
The winner and runner-up in men’s singles got 15 and 12 ranking points respectively. By winning the doubles title also Ansu added 12 more points in his kitty.
