Bhubaneswar: After the overnight dense fog and rain in the state capital, the state meteorological department predicts more rain and fog at different parts of the state due to the sudden change of climatic factors across the country.
The Bhubaneswar Met department, in their forecast, has predicted rains in the coastal parts of the state while fog has been predicted in some pockets of Odisha on Sunday. The department, however, claims that from Monday the weather is likely to be normal and dry in most parts of the state.
The department said that it monitored moderate to dense fog at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha while rainfall was reported at many places over interior Odisha and at a few places over coastal Odisha on Saturday.
The weather forecast for Sunday by the department said, “Light rain or thunderstorms are likely at one or two places over the coastal districts of Odisha. Shallow to moderate fog is likely to appear at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Khurda and Puri.”
The Met department, however, refrained from issuing any warning for Sunday. The institution also claims that in the next five days from Monday, dry weather is likely to prevail while fog is predicted for Monday and Tuesday in different pockets of the state.
The department blamed the changing weather on the trough running between East Uttar Pradesh to Chattisgarh. “The incidents of rains and fog were mainly due to the westerly trough which came from other nearby states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and others and passing through the state. The chances of rains were more till Saturday but from Sunday the weather is likely to improve with chances of rains at only few places,” HR Biswas, Bhubaneswar Met Director said.
