Choudwar: Choudwar police Tuesday arrested three persons on charges of poaching wild animals and possessing illegal arms.
The arrested were identified as Sadhua Purty alias Sarjan ,35, of Godadhua village in Choudwar police limits, and Manoj Darei ,29, and Raghunath Darei ,45, of Machhakhandia village. Six guns and 12 live ammunition were seized from them.
According to police, during patrolling Choudwar sub-inspector Ashok Kumar Hansdah was tipped off about presence of poachers. He along with other police officials raided Sadhua’s house and seized two guns and four live bullets. As per information elicited from Hansdah during interrogation, four guns and eight bullets were also seized from two other accused.
Choudwar inspector in-charge Jitendra Nath Sethy said, “They have confessed to their crime and have been forwarded to court after a case (49/19) was registered in this regard.” Further investigations are on, he added.
