Nayagarh: More than 20 cases of jaundice have been reported from Kanchanbali and Kridashpur village under Sadar block of Nayagarh district since the last three days.
According to the district health department, 10 people from Kridashpur, who were treated in the district headquarters hospital have recovered and been discharged.
Sweta Mohapatra, a doctor in the hospital, said, “Thursday, a medical team will go to the villages to check on the villagers and aware them about the prevention of the disease.”
Sources said 23 from Kridashpur and more than 82 from six villages under Balugaon panchayat were affected by jaundice. Sources added that the water supply tank near the banks of Dahuka River has septic tanks nearby it which pollute the incoming water. The locals have been demanding the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department to take care of it.
