Kukudakhandi: Forest officials recovered the carcass of a bear cub from Baulajholi village under this block in Ganjam district Monday.
The bear cub was rescued alive by the villagers from a farmland in the village in the wee hours of Monday. The villagers suspecting that the cub might be sick informed the Berhampur forest officials and the veterinarians in the Baulajholi veterinary hospital.
The veterinarians reached the spot and administered an injection to the cub but it died soon by the time the forest officials reached the village.
However, the actual reason behind its death is yet to be ascertained as various opinions began to surface over its death. Some held wrong treatment to be the reason behind the cub’s death.
