Koraput/Dhenkanal: Police Friday arrested six persons from Bandhugaon in Koraput and Gondia in Dhenkanal for their alleged involvement in the High School Certificate (HSC) Odia question
paper leak.
P Naresh, G Champi, G Mithoon and Prasanna Subudhi were apprehended from Bandhugaon, while Gondia police arrested Sudarsan Vidyabhawan’s centre superintendent Santosh Sahu and invigilator Baijayanti Satpathy.
According to police, three of the accused went to the examination centre at Bandhugaon Government School around 20 minutes after the commencement of the examination.
They took photos of the question paper and made them viral on social media. The trio later went to the computer shop of Prasanna Subudhi and fetched answers to the questions and provided the answers to some of the students appearing for the examination at the school.
A complaint in this regard was lodged at Bandhugaon police station. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the four Friday.
During the search, the police also seized a laptop, a photocopier machine and mobile phones from the accused.
Earlier Thursday, the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Khariar had rejected the bail pleas of an examination centre’s seven staff members who were arrested by Boden police for their involvement in the case.
An hour after the commencement of the examination across the state, question paper of Odia subject surfaced on the social media in Nuapada district and Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district.
Board of Secondary Education (BSE) president Jahan Ara Begum had also suspended officials involved in the incident including one official from Koraput (Bandhugaon High School).
