Sexual violence is a heinous crime in India. It is the use of force or manipulation to get someone to engage in unwanted sexual activity without their consent. People here are convicted to life imprisonment for such atrocious crimes.
But, it is quite the opposite in various parts of South Africa (SA). Because of the drastic rise in rape cases, South Africa is often referred to as the rape capital of the world. Government Data clearly suggests that a woman is raped in the country every 26 seconds.
The publication cited an anonymous survey conducted in Diepsloot of Johannesburg says 38% of men (two in five) admitted to having forced a woman into have sex with them.
Many women don’t tell anyone that they were raped because they feel ashamed or afraid or due to society pressures.
According to the survey, 30 percent of abortions were for women who had fallen pregnant something that could have been avoided by a simple morning-after pill.
A large number of rape cases go unreported, and if they are reported, few are done.
