Bhubaneswar: The jazz fans in the city will get the opportunity to watch the best jazz connoisseurs of present times perform at Bhanja Kala Mandap here Tuesday.
Musical band, Pulsar Trio, of Germany will perform at the 8th International Jazz festival which has been organised after the conclusion of 8th Delhi International Jazz festival which was organised from March 1 to 3 in the majestic city of monuments.
The festival (Delhi) has witnessed a footfall of more than 1,00,000 people visiting from different parts of the world during its last seven editions. This year, it brought an interesting itinerary with artistes from 12 countries, namely Germany, Mauritius, Israel, Korea, Morocco, Spain, Thailand, Syria, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Austria and India, giving the audience a taste of contemporary jazz from world over.
Post successful conclusion of the festival, the bands will perform in 22 cities in India, across the length and breadth of the country, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Lucknow, Port Blair, Vadodara, Hyderabad, Allahabad, Trivandrum, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Shillong, Guwahati, Varanasi, Patna and Mysore.
In Bhubaneswar, the Pulsar Trio of Germany consisting of three artists, namely band leader and sitarist Matyas Wolter, pianist Beate Wein and Aaron Christ in drums. The trio’s unusual and minimalistic combination of instruments creates sound that is unique, fresh and instantly appealing.
BRIEF HISTORY (BOX)
In spring 2007, Matyas Wolter and Beate Wein met at a musical event. Both got to know each other in a more personal way at Kolkata during Wolter´s annual visit to India. The first attempts to combine the sitar with the piano started in Potsdam. Not much later Aaron Christ joined in and the trio was born. What all of them have in common is the will to experiment, the joy of playing as well as their rambunctious nature. The unique instrumentation with Matyas Wolter in sitar and surbahar, Aaron Christ in drums and Beate Wein in piano and bass nation bring up a distinguished texture and sound aesthetic, exceptional of its kind.
