Bhubaneswar: Suspecting irregularities in the state government’s KALIA scheme, the state unit of BJP Monday asked the BJD government as to why the latter is not submitting the list of small and marginal farmers to the Centre for inclusion under PM-KISAN scheme.
“The state government is claiming that they have the list of 30 lakh small and marginal farmers covered under its KALIA scheme. Then why they submitted the list of only 9 lakh farmers to the Centre?” asked BJP farmers’ wing general secretary Surath Biswal.
He further said, “If the state government is having the list of farmers, why is it hesitating to submit it to the Centre?”
The delay in submission of the list of beneficiaries for PM-KISAN raised doubts about state government’s claim on transfer of assistance to the bank accounts of 30 lakh farmers, the BJP leader said.
Alleging thousands of multiple entries in the KALIA scheme, Biswal said, “It raises question on proper implementation of the scheme.”
Reacting to this, BJD secretary Bijay Nayak said, “The BJP is making such baseless and false allegations against the BJD for political gain. KALIA scheme has shown path to the nation and the Centre has also replicated it nationwide. It is a historic scheme taken up by our Naveen Patnaik government which became successful.”
