Bhubaneswar: Distributing houses and land patta to slum dwellers as part of the Urban Housing Mission scheme here Wednesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that by 2022 not a single slum resident would be without a pucca house.
During the programme, he laid foundation stone and inaugurated several major projects worth around Rs 1,300 crore. He also distributed 8,665 entitlement certificates, 104 final allotment letters and 130 provisional allotments letters to slum residents of the city.
Addressing a massive gathering at Janata Maidan he said, “We are giving all kinds of rights to the slum dwellers. Today, 10,000 slum dwellers were given rights certificates under the Awas Mission in its first phase.”
He claimed that the BJD
government has fulfilled all the promises made to the people prior to 2014 polls.
“I get maximum satisfaction on seeing the happiness of poor people,” Patnaik said adding that welfare of poor people has always been the top priority for his government. “I am always with the poor and will continue work for protecting their interests,” he said.
The state government has already distributed more than 2,000 allotment letters before making the availability of houses to more than 10,000 slum residents of the city.
Besides, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of 40 projects worth around `1,160 crore of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and Tourism Department. He also inaugurated one housing project at Rangamatia and Nirman Shramik Rahani
