Bhubaneswar: The state government Thursday appointed former Bhubaneswar mayor Ananta Narayan Jena as the new chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). Usually, the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Minister always holds this position by virtue of his portfolio.
However, this time the government has given the responsibility to Jena, who had earlier been elected as the mayor of Bhubaneswar twice in succession. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the appointment public, Thursday.
Jena, had relinquished his post of mayor after the tenure of the BMC council ended January 16, 2019.
In another development recently, IAS officer Balwant Singh has been appointed as BDA vice-chairman.
